Move Breathe Stretch

a path to find strength, balance, vitality & calm for everyday living

Back on it

Scrolling through my phone photos I found this video from late August. Some two months ago as I write and a year on from my shoulder injury.

The recording was also around the time of my many fitness challenges bravado. Sadly, the momentum and motivation quietly melted away.

So what now, well, my improved shoulder strength and mobility has benefited from my return to the gym. My prescription includes full body resistance training or basically lifting, pushing and pulling heavy stuff!

Of course, there’s plenty I can do at home with kettlebells, bodyweight exercises, and a good dose of fresh air. Still, I often think of the gym—or maybe it’s the process, routine, and environment of it—as my own spiritual space for physical and mental health. Kind of like how others might see a dojo, ashram, or yoga studio as their wellbeing sanctuary. Alright, maybe that sounds a bit fluffy or over-the-top, but to each their own, right?

However as much as I enjoy increments of kilos and reps it’s also time to ensure my well-being plan stays holistic and balanced so rediscovering this video demonstrates tightness in my body, the need to address muscle imbalances, flexibility and posture.

Back in the swing of things but evidence of requiring , a lil’ mo’ Yin Yang!
