It has been a while since my last post, with much happening in the meantime. Work often feels like a transactional, Sisyphean exercise in time management within the NHS system. Yet, I continue to feel blessed by the gratitude of my privilege to serve or help where I can. Most recently, part of my therapy involved walking alongside a determined individual in her tenth decade.
We left her flat via the lift, through two heavy doors, and into the nippy, spring sunshine. This is a regular route she takes twice weekly on her own, but today I joined her to observe and interject when necessary, as expected for my role. A total of nearly 200 yards, steadily completed with the aid of a walking stick.
Of course, such fragments of time occur exponentially throughout the county, country, and no doubt globally. However, for me, it has prompted this post, which, apart from being my need to share, also serves as a reminder of the importance of independence and physical ability. More thoughts on this theme to share in due course, as my intention is to explore how it impacts us from teen to ninety
